For my poster project I chose to continue with the Endicott Johnson shoe factory as my topic, and Dada as my art movement. I took this design from one of my preliminary sketches created for the stamp project. After looking at some of Kurt Schwitters collage art I was inspired to incorporate that style into my design aswell.

For my Historical Poster I decided to continue with the era of the Endicott Johnson shoe factory , along with DaDa as my art movement. The Endicott Johnson Shoe factory employed an estimated 20,000 people by the 1920s. The Endicott Johnson Corporation grew out of the Lester Brothers Boot and Shoe Company which began in Binghamton in 1854. In 1890, the Lester Brothers moved their business west to a nearby rural area, which in was incorporated as the Village of Lestershire and in 1916 became Johnson City. Financial problems in 1890 forced the sale of the company to a creditor and fellow shoemaker, Henry Bradford Endicott of Massachusetts, who founded the Endicott Shoe Company and in 1899 made factory foreman George F. Johnson his partner.

At present, the former central headquarters, located on the eastern edge of Johnson City, has been converted into a church. Most of the company's factories have been torn down, and the remaining ones are vacant except for some occupied, in part, by area businesses. EJ Footwear, LLC persists as a subsidiary of Rocky, but all its manufacturing is outsourced to third parties.

The first few Dada pieces I saw attracted me because of their eclectic,randomn, and totally unconventional design. I tried to take that style and use it in this stamp project, the theme of which is the Endicott Johnson shoe factory. In my design I used brown paper,with white crumpled paper and also newspaper which were different elements I found in a lot of other DaDa designs. I had also seen alot of of old shoes in the Dada pieces, which in my design would clearly be an effective incorporation given the stamps theme. I tried to keep the colors somewhat bland, and most of the images black and white, another characteristic of dadaism.

there are still a couple little things I want to do ( add more shoes coming from the factory smoke stack, also I need to put some dates on the stamp.)
